Massachusetts: Yeti of the Forest

1/13/2012 6:45:00 AM

Have you ever been lost in the woods? There is no scarier feeling than knowing you're 5, 10 miles out in the middle of no where and you're lost.

The trails all seem the same to me. Thankfully, I was with the most experienced rider in the bunch. The night was passing when two of the four riders peeled off and headed back to home base. That's when my friend told me the story of the Yeti. At first, I didn't believe it! He continued telling me that this creature had spooked some deer that he was hunting late one October afternoon. He described it as bear like. Very tall and silent when it moved through the forest.

Now you must understand we ride at night. Usually after 8 or 9 pm is when we leave. Everyone works and has a family so it's just easier than trying to go during the daytime.

My buddy and I are ziggin and zaggin around the forest when a very large dark "mass" runs right across the trail in front of me. I almost ran the thing over. I stopped immediately, as did my friend. "Did you see that"? he asks. I had to say yes, because I did see it with my own eyes. That was the Yeti you almost hit. WHAT? I couldn't deny it.

It could have been a bear, I guess? But, I don't think so. It was running in an upright position. Bears run on all fours...

The Yeti is said to be afraid of the Cape Cod Canal. That's why no one has seen one on Cape Cod for decades.

Thank you.
